Aromatherapy at Jessica's Apothecary
Jessica’s Story and Education
Jessica has been interested in Aromatherapy since 1994 when, on her travels in Flagstaff, Arizona, someone gave her a book on Essential Oils. She began mixing essential oils, carrier oils, clays, and sometimes avocados to make body care products, and used Sweet Almond Oil after her showers daily. The study of Ayurveda and Herbalism also became an important area of study. Driven by her love of botanicals in skin care formulations, in 2000 she decided to become an Esthetician. After 6 years in her field, Jessica’s Apothecary & Spa opened in 2006 and in 2010 Jessica started blending for her own product line. There had to be a way to conceal the scent of her prenatal addiction to Indian food from her hair! “Singing Sweet Julia” was born and then so was Julia.
After an inspirational conference in 2014 hosted by the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) Jessica was reminded that we don’t choose to work with essential oils, rather they choose us. She decided to take her education and knowledge of Aromatherapy further by enrolling in the Aromatherapy Certification Program through Aromahead Institute (currently attending). Jessica is also a student of Cathy Skipper, who taught in France for the last 25 years and is now located in Albuquerque, NM. She offers online classes through The School For Aromatic Studies with Jade Shutes.
